Everyone's financial aid package is unique to them. The type of package that will work best for you will be determined by the important decisions you make during the financial aid application process, as well as your specific needs. Financial Aid Process
- Call the Sound Master recording engineer school at (626) 284-0050 or fill out our contact form by clicking here and request a Financial Aid Packet. This packet consists of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a Financial Aid Handbook that will give you information regarding the financial aid process. Alternatively, you can get information from the the U.S. Department of Education and download forms from the FAFSA web site.

- Make an appointment to bring in the completed, signed FAFSA to a Sound Master financial aid officer, who will help determine your eligibility. Remember, leave any questions blank on the FAFSA form that you are not sure how to answer. The Sound Master financial aid officer will help you with any questions on the application.
|
- Bring the following items to your appointment:
- Your federal tax return from the previous year
- A copy of your High School Diploma, G.E.D., or high school transcripts (if your proof of graduation is not readily available, it may be submitted to the school by the first day of classes).

- Driver's license
- If you are single and a dependent (under 24 years of age), also bring a copy of your parent's federal tax return from the previous year.

Information regarding various Federal Financial Aid Programs is contained in the Sound Master Financial Aid Packet (fill out this form to receive the packet). By filling out a federal student aid application you may be considered for the following aid programs (if you are eligible) at Sound Master:
- Federal Stafford Subsidized Loan: This is a Federal loan in which the government pays for all interest while the student is attending school. The student then begins repayment on the principal and interest on the loan six months after graduation. 1st year borrows cannot exceed $2,625.00 in their loan amounts. Student must maintain half-time status while in school and meet other eligibility requirements.
|
- Federal Stafford Unsubsidized Loan: This is a Federal loan in which the borrower accrues interest while attending school. The student then begins repayment on the principal and interest on the loan six months after graduation. 1st year borrows cannot exceed $4,000.00 in their loan amounts and only independent students (as defined by the Department of Education) or students with parents denied for the PLUS loan are eligible for this loan type. Student must maintain half-time status while in school and meet other eligibility requirements.
|
- Parent PLUS Loan: This is a Federal loan in which the parent is the borrower on the loan. The student must be an undergraduate and dependant (as defined by the Department of Education) in order for the parent to apply for this loan. The loan is credit based and the parent must be approved, but there are no minimum or maximum levels of borrowing (so long as the student does not exceed their cost of education when awarded aid). The student must maintain half-time status and the repayment begins 60 days after the final disbursement has been made to the school.
|
- Pell Grant: This is a grant awarded to students with exceptional need and is money that does not need to be repaid. The exact amount students are awarded is based on the information provided on the FAFSA, with the maximum amount not to exceed $4,500. Students must maintain full time status and meet eligibility requirements for this grant.

Eligible students may also qualify for Sallie Mae's "Career Training Loan." Sallie May's pricing is structured so you get the best possible terms, based on your credit history. You can borrow from a minimum of $1,000 up to the total cost of your education, less other aid received. This includes tuition and expenses such as books, fees, a computer and living expenses. Up to 60% of the tuition amount is allowable for expenses, not to exceed $6,000.
