DAN HECK
Chief Audio Instructor
A Sound Master alum, Dan was mentored by the late Brian Ingoldsby, the founder of the Sound Master Recording Engineer School, and he takes great pride in continuing the legacy that Brian has left behind.  With expertise as an engineer as well as a performer, Dan has worked in such studios as Enterprise Studios and Audio Afx. Dan also designed and built the Mars Recording Studio and the Green Room Recording Studio in Southern California - where he continues to consult on a regular basis. Dan has extensive radio advertising experience, having produced and engineered spots for advertisers in Los Angeles. In addition, Dan has written and produced for several bands, such as Snodgrass, Pheend, Diamond Child, Brant Vogel, Carlos Guitarlos, Mike Hightower, Bonachita, Certain Circles, and Wayside Loop, to name a few. Dan has been with Sound Master for over five years and was a crucial part of the design and set-up process for our new facilities on the Alhambra campus. Dan is a dedicated teacher with exemplary teaching skills

FRANCIS BUCKLEY
Instructor
A background in music since childhood and recording experience extending back to the early 1970’s, Grammy Award Winning Engineer/Producer Francis Buckley has been making records for over 20 years. His experience ranges from the groundbreaking punk band Black Flag’s first album "Damaged" in 1980, to winning a Grammy Award in 1996 for Engineering "Q’s Jook Joint" alongside Quincy Jones. Francis’ contributions to multi-platinum recordings such as The Pointer Sisters’ "Breakout," Paula Abdul’s "Forever Your Girl," Wilson Phillips’ "Wilson Phillips," Alanis Morisette’s "Jagged Little Pill," as engineer and mixer has helped to sell over 100 million-plus records worldwide.

SEAN KEEGAN

Sound Master Alum, Sean Keegan has been active in many phases of the post-production industry since his graduation in 1995. Now a seasoned Re-Recording Mixer and Motion Picture Sound Editor, he has had the pleasure of working with many of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Dennis Hopper, Susan Sarandon, Val Kilmer, Sally Field, William Shatner, and Ray Liotta, just to name a few. Sean was part of the sound team awarded the Academy Award for Best Sound Editing in a Motion Picture for the 2000 film "U-571" starring Matthew McConaghey, Havrey Keitel and Bill Paxton. His extensive credits include some of televisions greatest hits like "Fraiser," "Friends," "The Cosby Show," "Rosanne," and "Walker, Texas Ranger." He is currently working on "Balttlestar Galactica," and "Bionic Woman" for NBC/Universal.

CARTER HUMPHREY
Instructor
Carter William Humphrey has been involved in the entertainment industry for over 2 decades. Carter graduated with a degree in Music Recording from the University of Southern California. While attending, he worked for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute that sparked an interest in classical recording in the field. After graduation, Carter began a technical career in music studios and film post-production. At Larrabee Sound, Carter oversaw the installation of Larrabee’s first SSL J9000 as well as construction and installation all of the audio workstations at the then new, Warner Bros. Feature Animation division. Carter eventually transitioned into recording production full-time and has enjoyed a diverse discography that includes Dr. Dre, Brian Wilson, Rod Stewart, Julie Andrews, Levon Helm, Pinetop Perkins, and many other acts.
HECTOR "CHICO" NADAL
Instructor

Chico Nadal a young engineer with roots that began in sample recreation brings a unique and edgy style of instruction to Sound Master. With over 7 years in the industry, Chico has a keen understanding of the digital environment including production, engineering, sampling, and mixing. For the past several years, Chico has worked for Spirit Music Group and DownTown Records, publishing companies that have released music for artists such as Gnarles Barkley, Cold War Kids, Spank Rock, Missy Eliot, Timbaland, Lumidee, and Jay J. His works include music videos for 50 Cent, Ice Cube and System of a Down, commercials for Verizon, Honda, and Google, music for Sony’s Pink Panther, MGM’s Yours Mine Ours, and The Disney Channel. Chico is happy to help the future generations of engineers and producers realize their potential and is excited to teach the new talent of the entertainment industry.
NEAL ROSENFELD
Instructor

Neal Rosenfeld is an audio and music professional with a BA in Composition. As a musician, engineer and location sound mixer, he has been involved with numerous films, TV programs, recordings, commercials and short films, including: 3rd Rock From the Sun, That 70’s Show, Blind Date and Off Centre. With a fond interest of instruction, Neal has been teaching at local Los Angeles music schools, recording and engineering programs and private instruction for 10 years. As a working professional in the industry, he finds it is a pleasure to "give back", and to share in a learning environment and is honored to be teaching at Sound Master Recording Engineering School.
NATHAN STALEY
Instructor
Nathan Staley, a Sound Master Alum, is a Recording Engineer with an expertise in music production and live mixing. He brings 10 years of experience as a producer, engineer, composer, and musician. He owns and operates NS Audio, a recording studio in North Hollywood, CA. He has worked with many artists including Eric Burden and the Animals, The Hollywood Hillbilies, Flipside, the Common Ground, The Chase, and Dena Parks. Nathan has worked alongside side well-known producers like Danny Elfman and Ross Hogarth. Nathan assisted in building custom audio fx systems for artists which include Linkin Park, Matchbox 20, Brad Paisley, and many more.

TONY WELTER
Instructor
Tony is a young and upcoming Audio Engineer, specializing in post-production. In 2004 he graduated with an Associates Degree in Recording Engineering.  Upon completion of his degree, Tony moved to San Francisco to work for the Academy of Arts University performing tech support for the Film & Sound Department’s Avid and Pro Tools Suites.  Anthony moved back to Los Angeles to work for 2 G Digital in which he worked on Sherk 3, Blades of Glory, Die hard 3, Dream Girls and Bee Movie.  His work can also be observed on MTV’s Public Service Announcements like “Aids Awareness.”  In addition to all of his successes in film and TV, Anthony has been a practicing musician for over 15 years.  He has toured as a musician and engineer all over the US and Europe working with big names in the electronic and black metal scene.  He continues to develop his extensive music and sound design credit list.
